This a true incident which happened few years back in a school.
There was a staff who was a very practical man, and encouraged students to do what their hearts want, he wanted them to be Practical and use their presence on mind rather than break their heads on books.
He handled “Moral Science” or “value Education” classes for students. It was time for exams, the HALF YEARLY
exam was around the corner and he had to set a question paper for his students.
Though he knew his students were very studious, he just wanted to test their presence of mind, so he made the Moral science question paper with just one question in the paper for 50 marks.
“WHAT IS GUTS?” During the exam he visited the exam hall and all the students were thinking hard on how to answer this question and few of them even raised a question saying that it is out of portion, but few nerds wrote 10 pages and 20 pages essays stating whats GUTS, few wrote about the “BADMINTON RACKET” and few about the “biological GUT”.
Finally the results were out and for surprise none of the student who wrote pages of essay crossed 20 marks, most of them failed, but one guy got 50/50.
Guess what he wrote on his paper. He wrote his name and class on the first sheet, and left 5 BLANK SHEETS and in
the last sheet he wrote “THIS IS WHAT IS CALLED GUTS"
I know few may take it as “look at the small boy’s attitude and the way he’s brought up” but the fact is he used his
presence of mind at that point rather than the history and crap he learn’t from books.
In real life too its the same situation, your brain is not a hard disk to collect all the data and retrieve it later, so presence of mind is really important.
But then you can’t expect your project manager to be like this teacher :D
