| Ingredients * Snakegourd - 200gm * Mustard - ½ tsp * Channa dhal - ½ tsp * Urad dhal - ½ tsp * Turmeric powder - ½ tsp * Chili powder - 1 tsp * Channa flour (Besan) - 2~3 tsp * Oil (preferably sesame oil) - 3 tsp * Long dry chili - 1 no * Asoefetida - 1 pinch * Water - 50ml * Salt - to taste | ||
Preparation * Cut snakegourd into ½ inch pieces * Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan * When oil attained enough heat add mustard and allow to split * Add channa dhal, urad dhal and fry it till it turns golden brown * Add dry chili after cutting into small pieces * Add turmeric powder, 1tsp of chili powder, asoefetida and fry a little * Now add the cut snakegourd and mix well * Close the pan for 2~3min and allow it to cook * Add required salt and add water * Close the pan and allow the snakegourd to cook well for about 10min * Once snakegourd is cooked, add channa flour and mix well * Add remaining chili powder and oil and mix well * Allow it to fry a little * If you see lumps of channa flour sprinkle little water and mix well until the lumps are gone | ||
Note: Eat this with any rice item, but goes very well with South Indian khadi (மோர் குழம்பு).
