[Why I love Japan] 14. Straight forward people

Today I wanted to go to City office for few errands.  I had to use bus to and fro, then use my normal train route to go to office.  If I can take 1-day pass then I can save ¥220. So inquired with driver as below:

私:電車にも使える一日乗車券をお願いします。
運転者:ああ。。。すみまあせん。。。それは駅で売ってますね。。。
私:ああ。。。なるほど。。。

(English translation - translated with the limited knowledge I have)
Me: May I get a 1-day pass that can be used in trains too.
Driver: well... Sorry... is sold only at train stations.
Me: is it.

As it will take some time to go to train take 1-day pass, I was not intending to do the same. So I was preparing to pay the busfare by PASMO card, a pre-paid IC card that can be used at public transports, convenience stores etc. The bus driver said you don't need to pay, when you go back to station buy the1-day pass.

So it was a free ride for me, if I decide not to buy 1-day pass later.  However its only our blood that will think like this.  Almost all localites does not even get this idea (there are exceptions everywhere though).

Eventually I bought 1-day pass after reaching the train station.  After all I have become ⅓ Japanese after living here for more than ⅓ of my life.
