Snakegourd Dry Curry


Serves: 2
Preparation time: 5min 
Cooking time: 20min 

Ingredients
* Snakegourd - 200gm
* Mustard - ½ tsp
* Channa dhal - ½ tsp
Urad dhal - ½ tsp
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Channa flour (Besan) - 2~3 tsp
Oil (preferably sesame oil) - 3 tsp
Long dry chili - 1 no
Asoefetida - 1 pinch
Water - 50ml
Salt - to taste

Preparation

Cut snakegourd into ½ inch pieces
Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan
When oil attained enough heat add mustard and allow to split
Add channa dhal, urad dhal and fry it till it turns golden brown
Add dry chili after cutting into small pieces
Add turmeric powder, 1tsp of chili powder, asoefetida and fry a little
Now add the cut snakegourd and mix well
Close the pan for 2~3min and allow it to cook
Add required salt and add water
Close the pan and allow the snakegourd to cook well for about 10min
Once snakegourd is cooked, add channa flour and mix well
Add remaining chili powder and oil and mix well
Allow it to fry a little
If you see lumps of channa flour sprinkle little water and mix well until the lumps are gone


Note: Eat this with any rice item, but goes very well with South Indian khadi (மோர் குழம்பு).
